The Center for the Ethnographic Study of Public Safety (CESPS) curates the synergistic genius of academics, policy makers, activists, and professional practitioners, who are engaged in re-imagining a 21st century public safety towards policies and practices of social equity and anti-violence. We utilize ethnography as a humanistic approach to better understand the social conditions of American inequality, and to make clear how those individuals and communities entangled in structural violence negotiate their everyday contingencies of life to produce local and meaningful forms of public safety. At no cost to the American public, we make available our research, training and publications to inform professional practices, policies and discourses that produce real equity and public safety to marginalized citizens in the US.
